Davidson 93, Emory 67
De'Mon Brooks scored 24 points as Davidson opened its season by defeating Emory 93-67 Friday night.
Chris Czerapowicz added 15 points, JP Kuhlman 14 and Jake Cohen 13 for the Wildcats, who shot 48.5 percent from the floor (32 of 66) and 10 of 22 from 3-point range (10 of 22). Cohen also had six blocked shots.
Alex Greven scored 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting for Emory, a Division III school which counted the game as an exhibition. Jake Davis added 14 points for the Eagles, who shot just 36.8 percent (21 of 57), and Michael Friedberg contributed 12 rebounds.
Davidson, which has won 21 straight home openers, surged to a 21-8 lead, with Cohen, Brooks and Tyler Kalinoski hitting 3s.
The Eagles closed to 29-27 with 6:56 left in the first half, but Brooks sparked an 11-2 run with a layup and another 3-pointer as the Wildcats pulled away.
