De'Mon Brooks scored a career-high 26 points as Davidson beat The Citadel 77-66 Thursday night in Southern Conference play.

Brooks, who had nine rebounds and four steals, hit 8 of 9 field goal attempts and also sank eight free throws.

The first-place Wildcats (19-5, 13-1) were leading 13-8 in the first half when they scored 17 unanswered points to lead 30-8. Up 38-21 at intermission, they increased that lead to 20 midway through the second half. But Davidson went 7:46 without a basket and The Citadel (4-20, 1-12) cut the lead to eight points with 2:01 left.

Chris Czerapowicz, who came off the bench to score 14 points, ended Davidson's drought with a trey. The Wildcats hit 7 of 8 foul shots in the last 1:20 to seal it.

Mike Groselle had a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Bulldogs, who were just 3 for 18 on treys.
