Jake Cohen scored 26 points and De'mon Brooks added 23 as Davidson surged ahead late in the second half and held on to beat Wofford 72-69 Thursday night in the Southern Conference opener for both teams.

The Wildcats (5-1), who have won three straight, trailed 44-38 with 15:19 to play.

After Davidson used a 10-4 run, fueled by six points from Cohen, to tie it at 48, Cohen hit a 3-pointer for a 51-50 lead with 9:40 left. The game was tied for the last time at 51, then the Terriers (3-4) got within a point on six occasions.

Drew Crowell, who led Wofford with 17 points, made a layup with 47 seconds left for 70-69. Brooks answered with a layup with 14 seconds to go and Crowell's 3-point attempt bounced off the rim at the buzzer.

Davidson hit 19 of 24 free throws while Wofford was 7 of 12.
