D-II coach ties Knight's record with 902nd win

Philadelphia University basketball coach Herb Magee won his 902nd game on Saturday to tie Bob Knight for the most victories by a men's coach in NCAA history.

The Division II Rams defeated Post 70-67.

Magee is 902-352 in 43 years at Philadelphia and can surpass Knight (902-371) on Tuesday when the Rams play Goldey-Beacom College in Philadelphia.

Freshman Jim Connolly made a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Rams the win. He scored 22 points, including 14 of the team's last 15 as Philadelphia rallied from a seven-point deficit in the closing minutes.

Malcolm Ingram scored 18 points and Mike Yocum 14 for Philadelphia, which is 22-6 and 14-1 in the Central Atlantic. Spencer Smith scored 16 points for Post (10-16, 6-9).
