Creighton guard Marcus Foster was sitting out the 2015-16 season following his transfer from Kansas State. But after suffering an injury on Sunday, he will also be absent from practice.

Foster underwent an MRI on his right knee on Tuesday, according to Steve Pivovar of the Omaha World-Herald. On Thursday, head coach Greg McDermott provided an update on the 6-foot-3 guard, informing reporters that Foster has a partially torn MCL and will be sidelined for up to six weeks.

“There’s no surgery needed,’’ McDermott told reporters. “We should have him back by Thanksgiving. And if it had to happen during any given year, this one would be my choice.’’

Foster transferred to Creighton in April. In two seasons at K-State, he averaged 14.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
