Jeremy Montgomery scored 18 points and Tim Kamczyc 17 to help Cleveland State beat Butler 76-69 on Friday night.
Trevon Harmon added 12 points and Anton Grady 11 for the Vikings (15-3, 5-1 Horizon), won have won three in a row and 10 of 12.
Andrew Smith's 13 points led the Bulldogs (9-9, 3-3), who dropped their second straight. Chase Stigall added 12, all on 3-pointers, while Ronald Nored contributed 12 and Khyle Marshall 11.
Kamczyc scored eight points in a 15-0 run that gave Cleveland State a 20-4 lead with 12:39 left in the first half. Butler went scoreless for 5:27.
But the Bulldogs edged ahead on Smith's two free throws for a 41-40 lead with 16:17 to go.
The Vikings responded with a 9-1 run for a 49-42 lead.
Butler closed within 72-69 on Nored's 3-pointer, but Cleveland State sank seven free throws over the final 36 seconds.
