Javarris Barnett posted career highs with 26 points and 12 rebounds as Charlotte pulled away to a 74-63 nonconference victory over Coppin State on Monday night.

The victory was the fifth straight for the 49ers (7-2).

The Eagles (4-6), got a 29-point career-high performance from senior backup forward Akeem Ellis, who entered the game averaging 9.2 points.

After failing to score in the first half, Jamar Briscoe shook himself and the 49ers awake with 9 minutes to play. The backup junior guard scored 10 straight points, beginning with a steal and layup, to improve Charlotte's slim lead to 49-41.

On his team's next three possessions, Briscoe scored from the lane in transition and dropped in two soft 3-pointers from the left wing. After that surge, it was 57-43 49ers, and the game was never in doubt again.
