Central Michigan dominates Alma 106-64

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Blake Hibbitts scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Central Michigan to a dominating 106-64 win over Alma in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.

Hibbitts had a lot of help with five Chippewas scoring in double figures. Chris Fowler finished with 12 points and 11 assists. Josh Kozinski and John Simons also contributed 12 points and Luke Meyer added 11.

Central Michigan jumped out to an early lead and pulled away to a 61-30 halftime advantage over Division III Alma.

The Chippewas, who hit 13 3-pointers, made 35 of 65 field goal attempts while limiting the Scots to 23 of 60 from the field.

Tyler Edwards and DJ Beckman led the Scots with eight points each.

The teams have not met since the 1971-72 season.
