Elton Frazier scored 13 points and Alshwan Hymes had 12 to help Canisius hold off Binghamton 55-45 on Tuesday night.

The Golden Griffins (3-2), who returned to action after a week off, trailed 10-8 with 10:56 left in the first half. They then held the Bearcats to just two points the rest of the half to lead 28-12 at the break.

Canisius extended the lead to 36-18 with 13:59 to play. Binghamton (1-5) used a 16-5 run to close to 48-41 with 2:14 left, but could get no closer in the first game between the two schools.

In the final 1:39, the Golden Griffins made 5 of 6 free throws while the Bearcats missed four field goals and two free throws.

Greer Wright scored 23 points to lead Binghamton, which had no other player score more than six points. Wright was just 6 of 16 from the field - 1 of 6 from beyond the arc - but hit 10 of 12 free throws and had six rebounds.
