Butler 53, Green Bay 49
Ronald Nored and Andrew Smith scored 13 points apiece, helping Butler even its conference record Thursday with a 53-49 victory over Green Bay.
Nored added seven rebounds and four assists for the Bulldogs (7-7, 1-1 Horizon), and Kameron Woods scored 10, including a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left that gave Butler a 52-47 lead. Two Kam Cerroni free throws cut the lead to three, but a Nored free throw in the final seconds sealed the victory.
Neither team shot the ball well. Butler was 18 of 58 (31 percent) from the field, barely better than Green Bay's 15 of 54 (28 percent). Roosevelt Jones led the Bulldogs with 12 rebounds.
Alec Brown scored 13 points for the Phoenix (6-7, 2-1), and Brennan Cougill pulled down 13 rebounds in Green Bay's first of three consecutive road games.
With the victory, Butler has won its last five matchups with Green Bay.
