Zach Filzen scored 19 points and Mitchell Watt 16 as Buffalo pulled away in the second half for a 94-59 victory over crosstown rival Canisius on Tuesday night.
The Bulls (3-1) led 39-29 at halftime and broke the game open with runs of 11-0 and 13-3 in the second half. After the Golden Griffins (1-3) got within nine points, 55-46, with 12:27 remaining, two baskets by Filzen, the second a 3-pointer, and a dunk by Jarod Oldham started Buffalo on its way.
Titus Robinson got nine points for the Bulls in a span of 1:26 when they increased their lead to 86-55 with 3:40 remaining.
Robinson and Tony Watson added 13 points each for Buffalo, and Javon McCrea had 11.
Reggie Groves led Canisius with 11 points, and Harold Washington and Alshwan Hymes had 10 each.
Filzen's four 3-pointers tied Rodney Pierce for third on Buffalo's career list with 137.
