Buffalo 87, Towson 76

Zach Filzen scored 23 points to lead Buffalo to an 87-76 victory over Towson on Saturday night.

The Bulls (2-1) led by as many as 14 points, as Filzen hit a 3-pointer with 16:03 to play, making it 60-46 and causing the Tigers to call time out. Towson (1-2) rallied to within four when RaShawn Polk's 3-pointer made it 72-68 with 3:50 left.

But Buffalo withstood the charge, running off seven straight points to pad the margin to 11 points. It didn't slip below nine after that.

Isaiah Philmore led Towson with 21 points and also had 11 rebounds. Braxton Dupree also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Michael Watt added 16 points for the Bulls. Teammates Byron Mulkey, Dave Barnett and Jason McCrea had 14 points each for Buffalo, and McCrea complemented his with 12 rebounds.
