Rodney Pierce scored 18 points to lead Buffalo to a 78-69 win over Towson in overtime on Saturday. Pierce shot 7-for-18 from the field for the Bulls (2-1). Calvin Betts added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while John Boyer dished out 12 assists. Towson (1-1) trailed by seven points with less than 3 minutes remaining in the second half when they went on a 7-0 scoring run to tie the game at 65-all. Troy Franklin's 3-pointer with 21 seconds remaining capped the Tigers' spree, and a missed layup by Pierce at the buzzer forced the game into overtime. In the extra period, though, the Tigers were outscored 13-4, and the Bulls ended the game on a 6-0 run. Towson was paced by Franklin, who finished with 17 points. Jarrel Smith added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Calvin Lee contributed 15 points and nine rebounds.
