Bucknell beats American U 71-69 for PL regular season crown

WASHINGTON (AP) J.C. Show scored 20 points, including two key free throws with 21 seconds left, to help Bucknell beat American University 71-69 on Saturday, as the Bison clinched the Patriot League regular season title.

Show's free throws gave Bucknell a 70-66 lead. American's Pee Wee Gardner drove the lane and found Jalen Rhea in the corner for a 3-pointer to make it 70-69 with 12 seconds left. Bucknell was whistled for a five-second violation on the inbounds play.

Marko Vasic drove the lane, was fouled but missed both free throws with seven seconds left. Bucknell's Zach Thomas made 1 of 2 from the line and Gardner's half-court shot rolled out.

Thomas had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Bucknell (18-13, 13-5 Patriot). Nana Foulland also had 12 points.

Bucknell has won the PL regular season title in four of the last five years.

Vasic had 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists for American (15-15, 8-10).

No. 6 seed American will face third-seeded Lehigh.
