Brown beats St. Francis Brooklyn 81-71

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Joshua Howard scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds as Brown notched its third-straight win, beating St. Francis Brooklyn 81-71 on Wednesday night.

Howard was 5 of 11 from the field and 8 of 10 from the free throw line for the Bears (4-4). Ivy League scoring leader Steven Spieth broke 1,000 career points with 17 and Travis Fuller had a career-high 14 points and a career-best eight rebounds.

Spieth broke his 1,000-points mark on a pair of free throws that gave the Bears a 79-66 lead with 48 seconds left.

Brown led by 10 at the break and never trailed in the second half. The Terriers (1-5) cut Brown's lead to six points, 55-49, with 12:37 to play but the Bears went up by ten once more, 63-53, on a Fuller dunk with 8:26 remaining.

Rasheem Dunn scored 16 points off the bench to lead the Terriers.
