Broome leads Sacred Heart past Bryant 74-57

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) Cane Broome scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Thursday night to lead Sacred Heart to a 75-57 win over Bryant and clinch a spot in the Northeast Conference tournament for the second year in a row.

Tevin Falzon added 18 points while hauling in 18 rebounds and Quincy McKnight had 12 points to go with 11 boards for Sacred Heart (10-16, 9-6). The Pioneers hit 31 of 75 from the field (41 percent) and had a 53-33 rebounding.

Sacred Heart broke away early in the second half with a 13-0 burst to make it 44-31 with 15:48 to play. Broome scored nine points in the run, including a 3-point play to cap it, and the Pioneers protected the advantage the rest of the way.

Nisre Zouzoua's 14 points paced Bryant (7-21, 4-11). Marcel Pettway added 12 points for the Bulldogs and Bosko Kostur had 11.
