Brase powers Princeton past Brown, 75-64

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) Hans Brase scored 12 of his 14 points in the final 7:37 and Princeton held off Brown 75-64 Friday night to stay a game back of Harvard and Yale as the Ivy League nears the halfway point.

The Tigers (11-11, 4-2) close out the first half of the conference season Saturday against Yale.

Tavon Blackmon's jumper with 8:02 left pulled Brown within five, 55-50, but Brase answered with a pair of layups sandwiched around a Henry Caruso free throw to make it 60-50 with 5:35 to play. Brase dunked to make it a 12-point lead at 64-52. He had another slam, then knocked down a pair of free throws to make it a 13-point lead, 74-61, with 1:32 left.

Steven Cook finished with 18 points and Brase pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Princeton.

Rafael Maia had 16 points to lead Brown (10-14, 1-6).
