Bogan spurs Tennessee-Martin past Jacksonville State 67-63 (Jan 25, 2018)
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) DelFincko Bogan scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half and added four assists and five steals to guide Tennessee-Martin to a 67-63 victory over Jacksonville State on Thursday night.
Bogan, a junior guard who played 30 games for Jacksonville State during his freshman season, knocked down 9 of 14 from the floor, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range. Matthew Butler scored 14 and Fatodd Lewis chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds for the Skyhawks (8-14, 3-6 Ohio Valley Conference). Jacksonville State (15-7, 6-3) beat UTM 66-55 in the championship game of the OVC tournament last season.
The Gamecocks shot a paltry 22 percent (7 of 32) from the field in the first half and trailed 33-23 at intermission. Malcolm Drumwright and Marlon Hunter converted back-to-back 3-point plays to give Jacksonville State a 51-49 lead with five minutes left. The lead changed hands six times before Lewis nailed a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left to put the Skyhawks on top for good. Terrance Parker hit two free throws with five seconds left to seal it.
Drumwright scored 22 to pace the Gamecocks.
