Bell-Haynes scores 16; Vermont beats New Hampshire 73-67

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Trae Bell-Haynes hit 3 of 4 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points, while Cam Ward scored 11 with five assists to help Vermont hold off New Hampshire for a 73-67 win Wednesday night.

Kurt Steidl added 13 points for Vermont, which won its fourth in a row and moved into a third-place tie with New Hampshire in the America East Conference standings.

Steidl converted a three-point play to put the Catamounts (18-12, 10-5) up 59-51 with eight minutes left.

A layup by Jaleen Smith capped a 7-0 spurt and pulled New Hampshire (17-11, 10-5) within one with 6:45 to go, but Ward scored five down the stretch to hold off the Wildcats.

Smith scored 16, while Ronnel Jordan and Jacoby Armstrong had 15 points apiece for New Hampshire, which made just 6 of 27 (22.2 percent) from behind the arc. Tanner Leissner added 13 points.
