Austin Peay pulls away late, beats Tennessee State in OVC

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) John Murry hit a 3-pointer and Josh Robinson made five free throws in the final 24 seconds to give Austin Peay a 74-73 victory over Tennessee State on Thursday night in an Ohio Valley Conference quarterfinal.

Eighth-seeded Austin Peay (16-17) moves on to face top-seeded Belmont on Friday.

Josh Robinson scored 17 points to lead the Governors. Chris Horton had 15 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, and Murry finished with seven points.

Wayne Martin had 15 points and 13 rebounds for No. 4 seed Tennessee State (20-10). Keron Deshields and Tahjere McCall scored 16 points apiece.

The Governors took the lead for good, 69-67, on Murry's 3. The Tigers committed a turnover on their next possession, and Murry then made 5 of 6 from the line to seal it.

Austin Peay is playing in their first conference tournament since losing in the opening round to Jacksonville State in 2012.
