Arizona's Jackson-Cartwright suffers ankle injury

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 2:15 a.m. ET

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) Arizona point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright could ''miss a considerable amount of time'' after suffering a high right ankle sprain against Texas Southern on Wednesday night.

Jackson-Cartwright was injured midway through the first half of the 16th-ranked Wildcats' 85-63 victory after getting tangled with a Texas Southern player on a screen. The junior guard limped off the court and did not return, leaving Arizona even more short-handed.

Sophomore guard Allonzo Trier has yet to play due to unspecified reasons and no timetable has been given for his return. Redshirt forward Ray Smith suffered a third torn ACL during an exhibition game and retired from basketball.
