Arizona 83, New Mexico St. 57

BY foxsports • November 18, 2010

Derrick Williams had 27 points and 14 rebounds, and Arizona overcame some sloppy stretches to pull away for an 83-57 win over New Mexico State on Thursday night.

Arizona (2-0) had a tough night from long range - 5-for-22 - and caused coach Sean Miller to lose his voice early because of careless mistakes. The Wildcats made up for it by getting the ball to Williams inside and with 29 points from their bench.

Coming off easy victories over weaker opponents, New Mexico State (2-1) had a hard time against Arizona's length and athleticism yet kept clawing back from big deficits. The Aggies withstood a big early run and kept the game within single digits until Arizona pulled away over the final 10 minutes.

Troy Gillenwater had 25 points to lead New Mexico State, which hasn't beaten a school from the Big 6 conferences since 2002.
