WASHINGTON (AP) Tony Wroblicky had 18 points Saturday and Darius Gardner made big plays down the stretch to help American hang on for a 63-57 victory over Holy Cross.

Jesse Reed used Wroblicky's high screen to free himself for a layup which gave American a 57-53 lead with 1:08 left to play.

Holy Cross looked to answer, but Gardner knocked the ball from Anthony Thompson's hands, Marko Vasic gathered the loose ball and Gardner scored on the resulting fast break to put American up by six with 33 seconds to go.

Gardner made two free throws and John Schoof hit two more to secure the win for American (14-7, 10-0 Patriot League) which remained perfect in conference play and continued an 11-game winning streak.
