American U holds on, beats Colgate 71-69 in 2OT

WASHINGTON (AP) Charlie Jones scored five points in the second overtime, Marko Vasic added four, and American University held on to beat Colgate 71-69 on Saturday night.

American had a four-point lead with 12 seconds left in the second overtime. Luke Roh scored for Colgate (6-11, 3-1 Patriot League), and Jones missed a pair of free throws to give the Raiders another shot to tie it with 3.6 seconds left, but AU's Jesse Reed forced a turnover to end it.

Reed scored to tie the game at 62 with 31 seconds left in the first overtime, and Colgate's Damon Sherman-Newsome missed a 3 at the buzzer to send it to the second overtime.

With 13 seconds left in regulation, Pee Wee Gardner scored five points and Kevin Panzer forced a turnover, helping American (9-7, 2-2) tie it at 54 and force the first overtime.
