Vlad Moldoveanu and Stephen Lumpkins each scored 22 points Saturday as American University defeated Florida Atlantic 82-72 for its fourth straight victory.

It also gives the Eagles (4-0) their best start since the 1985-86 season.

American built on a 17-point halftime lead when Moldoveanu scored the first five points of the second half, making it 52-30. The Owls (3-2) rallied to within one on Alex Tucker's basket, but couldn't take the lead. Moldoveanu and Lumpkins combined for the next four points, and the Eagles added five free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

Lumpkins also had 15 rebounds for the Eagles.

The Eagles shot a season-high 50.9 percent (28 of 55) from the floor and 41.2 percent (7 of 17) on 3-pointers. The Owls shot just 31.1 percent (19 of 61) from the field, but 29-of-36 shooting from the free-throw line kept them from being blown out.
