Akron edges Buffalo 75-72

AKRON, Ohio (AP) Jake Kretzer scored 13 points and led five players in double figures as Akron edged Buffalo 75-72 on Saturday night.

Pat Forsythe added 11 points for the Zips (16-7, 7-3 Mid-Atlantic Conference). Kwan Cheatham Jr., Noah Robotham and Isaiah Johnson had 10 apiece. The team finished hitting 46.3 percent from the field.

Buffalo led 43-41 at the break but Akron took a 54-50 lead early in the second period on a 13-7 run capped by a Robotham 3-pointer. Kretzer hit a pair of 3s midway to help stretch the Zips' lead to 65-58. The Bulls (15-7, 6-4) closed to four points, 68-64, on a Shannon Evans layup with 7:52 to play but the team made only three field goals after that - a dunk, a layup and a 3-pointer by Xavier Ford - as the Zips held on for the win.

Ford led Buffalo with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
