Shane Carwin (12-1) vs. Junior Dos Santos (12-1)

Round 1

Carwin starts after about a minute by going for a single-leg takedown. Dos Santos defends it and they end up along the cage. Dos Santos lands a knee and breaks free of the grip. Jab from Carwin. Returned by Dos Santos. The two come together and throw punches, Carwin gets the better of it. Dos Santos tries to come over the top but has no luck. Carwin catches him with a hook coming in. Carwin ducks under a punch, goes for a single-leg, gets it but only for a second before Dos Santos pops up. Combo from Dos Santos. Jab from Dos Santos. Jab, jab, hook from Dos Santos. Dos Santos comes in and kills him with some big shot and drops Carwin. Carwin looks to be in big trouble. Dos Santos gets on top and starts pounding away. Carwin is hanging on for dear life. Dean lets it go and Carwin barely survives to the next round though his face is a bloody mess.

10-9 Dos Santos and possible a 10-8.

Round 2

Kick from Dos Santos to start the second frame. Carwin charges back but does nothing. Uppercut from Dos Santos misses in a big way. Jab from Dos Santos. Inside leg kick from Dos Santos. Another jab to Carwin's face. Dos Santos changes things up and takes a few shots to the body. Carwin goes for an uppercut but can't connect. Outside leg kick from Carwin. Another. Inside leg kick from Dos Santos. Hook from Dos Santos. Jabs from Dos Santos. Carwin comes in hard and nails Dos Santos with a big hook. It staggers Dos Santos. He lands another. Two minutes left in the round. Jab from Carwin. Inside leg kick for Dos Santos. Both fighters throwing jabs. Big head kick from Dos Santos lands but does not phase Carwin. Jab from Dos Santos. Hook from Dos Santos. Jab from Dos Santos. Big wild swing from Dos Santos to end the round. He misses which is very good news for a battered Carwin.

10-9 Dos Santos.

Round 3

Carwin goes for the takedown, it pushes Dos Santos up against the cage. Carwin then repositions himself and gets Dos Santos down. Dos Santos stands up out of it by wall walking. They break. Dos Santos is moving cautiously but throws a few tentative jabs. Carwin starts to throw looping punches that seem to be acts of desperation. He swings for another and misses. Jab from Dos Santos. Carwin comes forward, throws a punch but cannot find his range. Jab from Dos Santos stuns Carwin. Another jab. Dos Santos is really connecting with these shots at the half way point of the round. Shades of GSP from UFC 124. Dos Santos keeps working that jab. Referee Herb Dean steps in and calls for the doctors to take a look at Carwin. Carwin is allowed to continue. Dos Santos goes and gets what is probably the first takedown of his career. Carwin is able to stand out of it. Thirty seconds left. Jab from Dos Santos. With 10 seconds left Dos Santos gets another takedown. Carwin goes for a choke but it is too late.

Kenny Florian (14-5) vs. Diego Nunes (16-1)

Round 1

Florian opens with head kicks, neither lands. Nunes returns the favor but also misses. Nunes keeps going back with the head kicks but has yet to have any luck with them. Uppercut from Florian catches a glancing blow. Nunes misses a crazy swinging shot and Florian ties him up. He goes for the single-leg takedown, he gets him down. Nunes stands up but Florian has the back. Nunes turns it around and pushes him up against the cage. Nunes gets a takedown but Florian has no trouble getting back up. In the clinch Nunes gets a knee. Nunes goes for a leg kick, Florian blocks and tries for a takedown. Leg kick from Nunes. Nunes' ear is leaking blood. Spinning back fist from Nunes lands. Head kick from Nunes is blocked cleanly. Jab from Florian. Another duck from Florian leads to a very important takedown. Nunes escapes and starts putting the pressure on Florian. Spinning back fist misses, but straight right from Nunes knocks Florian backward and down. He jumps on top for a few more points and is enough to steal the round.

10-9 Nunes.

Round 2

Nunes is the aggressor coming out throwing punches and kicks. Florian backs him down but isn't comfortable throwing anything. Another duck to takedown for Florian only this one doesn't go all the way down. Nunes uses the cage to help stave off the attempt. They tie up on the ground, they stand and Florian begins aiming for a single-leg. Nunes overcomes it and scores a takedown of his own. Florian starts going for the triangle. Blood starts to flow from the top of Nunes' head. Nunes takes a diving shot at a grounded Florian. He will not commit to getting on top of Florian. Finally the ref gives Florian time to stand up. Superman punch from Florian misses. Kick to the body from Nunes. They tie up and Nunes gets a knee in there. Florian starts going for and gets a double-leg takedown. He starts working the knees and elbows. Florian seems to be going for an arm triangle but he cannot get his leg free. Nunes is gushing all sorts of blood out of the back of his head. Florian starts to ground and pound. The round ends with Florian on top. He evened up the fight with that one.

10-9 Florian.

Round 3

The two exchange leg kicks to start. Nunes keeps going for them but Florian keeps his cool. Florian keeps him at bay with jabs. Jabs from Florian land. Florian pushes him up against the cage and scores a double-leg takedown. He lands a strong elbow to the facial area of Nunes. Florian starts to pound away on the body of Nunes. Florian is in half guard. He hits a big elbow again to the head on Nunes. He keeps the ground and pound going and then moves directly into side control. The action slows as the fighters seemed to be worn down. They stand up and Nunes begins to exert pressure on Florian. He keeps grinding him into the cage. Big kick from Nunes. Nunes begins to come hard knowing he needs to win this round to have a prayer. He goes for a spnning back fist but Florian moves in to take away his option. Florian comes in, grabs him in the clinch and hits a big knee. They start to box near the end, Nunes hits a knee then a big left hook that drops Florian to one knee. The round and fight come to an end.

Mark Munoz (10-2) vs. Demian Maia (14-2)

Round 1

Big shot from Maia to open the fight. Kick from Munoz. Big left from Maia stuns Munoz. Munoz goes for a wild head kick. Huge hook from Maia lands clean. Tie up along the fence, Maia in control. A few nice shots from Maia land, he goes for a killer head kick but it misses. He moves in and starts landing knees. Munoz doesn't have much of an answer to Maia's new-found offense. Munoz gains control and then they break. One-two combo from Maia. Big head kick from Muoz is blocked. Maia swarms in and starts to throw body shots. Munoz catches him coming in. Hook from Maia, they box to close out the round.

10-9 Maia easily.

Round 2

Munoz nails Maia with two big shots and knocks him over. Maia grabs the legs but Munoz begins to unload on the side and thigh of Maia. The two are tied up on the ground with Maia looking to pull guard. Munoz backs out and they get a stand up. Big left from Munoz. Munoz comes in but Maia makes him pay. Maia dives in but Munoz tries to lock on the D'Arce choke. He lets it go but Maia tries to steal the back. Munoz slides out of that and pounds Maia with a fist to the face. Back on the ground Munoz starts to hit Maia on the rear end. Munoz gets a ground and pound poisition but Maia's defense is strong. Maia has him in full guard. Munoz gets into half guard. They stand up, Munoz goes for a single leg but Maia tries for the guillotione. Munoz gets out and takes control on the ground. He lands a short elbow. Maia to a sitting position. Munoz is landing shots where he can which is the side of the body of Maia. Munoz keeps him plastered to the cage, the ref stands them up and the horn sounds.

10-9 Munoz, two clear-cut rounds lead to a deciding third.

Round 3

Big head kick from Munoz is blocked. Maia catches him with a right coming in. Munoz misses a kick. Munoz goes for a double and a takedown. Maia stand right back up though. Munoz now starts working for a single leg takedown. Maia turns it around and gets on top looking for the back. Maia starts working a neck crank but Munoz spins out of it. They stand up and Munoz presses Maia up against the side of the Octagon. Knee from Maia. The action slows here deep in the final round. Munoz starts tugging for a takedown but can't finish it. Maia lands a few short rights. Munoz totally stalls and the ref breaks them up. Head kick from Maia is mostly blocked. Munoz gets a push down and lands a punch from a standing poisition. Back on their feet and tied up again. Maia hits a kick, Munoz goes for a big kick but misses by a mile. Maia goes for a final takedown but Munoz sprawls away from it.

10-9 Munoz. That gives Munoz the victory on the Inside Fights scorecard 29-28.

John Olav Einemo (6-1) vs. Dave Herman (20-2)

Round 1

Kick from Herman to start. Inside leg kick to follow. Einemo comes in for takedown, ties him up on the cage. Herman tries to get some shots in, not much luck. They break and start swinging. Break again and Herman throws some kicks. Two straights from Einemo land. Inside leg kick from Einemo. Uppercut from Herman kind of lands. Einemo turns it up and comes forward hard with two big uppercuts. Einemo misses two murderous punches. Knee from Herman. Three-punch combo from Herman. Big takedown from Einemo into half guard. He passes guard into side control. The oversized Einemo tries to land some elbows but Herman shockingly squeezes out of trouble and gets back to his feet. Weak inside leg kick from Herman. Clinch and knee from Einemo. Knee from Herman, returned by Einemo. Einemo misses a big shot, ties up Herman and gets a takedown at the horn.

10-9 Einemo.

Round 2

Herman keeps the bigger man at a distance early on with push kicks. Einemo gets in close and pushes Herman up against the cage. Einemo lands a big right and starts to stalk his prey. Herman tries an axe kick doesn't do much with it though. Back in the clinch, they break and Einemo starts to land big rights. He chases him across the cage landing shots to the face. He escapes. Break for a mouthguard. Right after the break Einemo hits another big shot and Herman looks to be in trouble. Herman returns the favor and knocks Einemo flat. He pounces on him and almost goes in for the finish. He can't quite do it. Einemo tries to grab the leg but cannot. Herman starts to land crazy knees. Einemo seems to be wobbled in a major way. He keeps coming with the knees. Einemo drops and tries to grab his legs. Herman just keeps pounding and finally gets the stoppage.

Donald Cerrone (14-3) vs. Vagner Rocha (6-1)

Round 1

Big outside leg kick from "Cowboy" Cerrone to start. Then another quick kick from Cerrone lands on the groin. Quick stoppage. Big knee to the body from Cerrone. Another outside leg kick from Cerrone. Rocha seems very cautious. Takedown for Rocha. Cerrone is looking for a triangle, can't get it and they find themselves back in the standing position. Cerrone throws another wild leg kick that lands. Inside leg kick for The Cowboy. Kick from Rocha. Outside leg kick from Rocha. He charges foward but then bails on it. Cerrone hits another set of outside leg kicks. Rocha dives forward and totally misses. Cerrone hits another inside leg kick to the lead leg. Uppercut from Cerrone followed by another leg kick. Left hook for Rocha. Cerrone catches a kick and then kicks his other leg out from under him. Straight from Cerrone and follows with another leg kick. Cerrone continues to plow forward. The round ends an easy one for Cerrone.

10-9 Cerrone.

Round 2

Cerrone opens with a leg kick believe it or not. Then another. Rocha grabs him in the clinch but can't inflict any damage with it. Leg kick from Cerrone. He catches another kick and tries to land a body one of his own but it is blocked. Rocha goes for a takedown but they end up on the cage. Rocha keeps the pressure on but cannot get the takedown. Big hook from Rocha is blocked. Leg kick from Cerrone. Cerrone tries a push kick but it doesn't land clean. Jab from Cerrone. Rocha tries for a takedown by grabbing the leg. No luck. Takedown for Cerrone but can't do anything with it. He seemed a little scared of Rocha's ground game. Rocha swings wildly and misses by a lot. Inside leg kick from Cerrone. Takedown attempt from Rocha, blocked, he tries to lure Cerrone down to the ground but luckily Cerrone is not that stupid. Cerrone ends the round with another big outside leg kick.

Cerrone 10-9.

Round 3

Front kick from Cerrone to start and then another leg kick. He is just murdering that leg. They both throw punches at the same time, neither really land Takedown attempt by Rocha is met with a sprawl. Spin kick from Rocha misses. Cerrone fakes a shot then hits with the left. Outside leg kick from Cerrone. Rocha swings and whiffs. Leg kick from Cerrone. Rocha lands a straight right. Cerrone catches another kick, toys with him and then sweeps his leg out from under him. Outside leg kick from Cerrone. Two nice shots land for Rocha. Cerrone corners him and Rocha tries to run away and then tries for another double leg takedown. Rocha is obviously hurting on the standup. Leg kick, body kick from Cerrone. Leg kick from Cerrone. Cerrone hits a big combo with two precise shots to the face. Another outside leg kick. Rocha falls over at the bell in a terrible effort to get Cerrone on the ground.

10-9 Cerrone. That gives the former WEC champ a 30-27 victory on the Inside Fights scorecard.

Yves Edwards (40-16-1) vs. Sam Stout (17-6-1)

Round 1

Good to see the master of "thug jitsu," Yves Edwards, back in the cage again. He's a true legend in the division and this will be a great challenge for Sam Stout. We are looking forward to a really great encounter.

Crisp combo from Stout, but he finally opens the fight with a left leg kick. Edwards comes in with a combo, but Stout gets him on the way out. Head kick from Stout is blocked. Both fighters are working really crisp combos. Stout is pressing the action and the two fighters exchange blocked head kicks. Edwards grabs a single leg that Stout stands and works hard for the takedown. Stout uses his butterfly guard to keep Edwards from moving into side control. Stout fights back to his feet and lands a lead uppercut and right. Edwards connects with a solid series of punches. Yves goes for a headkick that misses and he slips. Edwards moves into for a short right that lands and Stout moves his head around to connect with a big left hook that puts Yves Edwards out cold. His head snapped off the mat just as hard as the punch connected.

Winner: Sam Stout by knockout (R1, 3:52)

 


 

Jesse Bongfeldt (15-4-1) vs. Chris Weidman (5-0)

Round 1

Great nickname for Jesse "The Water" Bongfeldt. At least he seems to have a great sense of humor outside the cage. There should be an over/under on how many times UFC announcer Joe Rogan mentions that during the match. High kick from Weidman is blocked. Cross from Weidman misses before he swings through on a high kick that flies by. Body kick from Bongfeldt, but Weidman counters with a back elbow. Bongfeldt locks him up, but Weidman rolls through with a great takedown and has side control. Bongfeldt is able to get Weidman back into his guard. Weidman postures up and is back onto his feet, dropping a long punch that leads to him taking side control. Weidman moves to north-south and tries for a kimura, but Bongfeldt spins away. Weidman takes an elbow from the bottom and is bleeding. Weidman defends another kimura and controls Bongfeldt on the mat with around 45 seconds in the round. Bongfeldt gets up to his feet and the two exchange kicks. Bongfeldt comes in for a takedown as Weidman hits a knee to the body. Weidman grabs the neck and slaps on a standing guillotine with under 10 seconds to go.

Winner: Chris Weidman by submission (R1, standing guillotine, 4:54)
