Koki Kameda of Japan defended his WBA bantamweight title on Sunday with a split decision over Thailand's Panomroonglek Kaiyanghadaogym.
Kameda (30-1) is the only Japanese fighter to win titles in three weight divisions. The 29-year-old Panomroonglek (36-2) was taking his first shot at a world title.
It was the sixth title defense for Kameda who predicted a KO but had to settle for a decision that at times appeared to be going in favor of his eighth-ranked challenger.
