The Sooners have had all sorts of defensive issues the past several seasons, including an affinity for calling defensive timeouts.
Through two games this season, that’s only happened once. Perhaps some of the credit for the improved communication is defensive coordinator Mike Stoops moving from the field to the press box.
"The communication Saturday night was difficult because it was so loud in the stadium," Stoops said of the noise at Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. "But getting adjustments to our guys and seeing things before they can actually see them on the field, that’s the tricky part. I think it has worked well for our players."
