Russell Wilson throwing out Rangers’ first pitch Wednesday
ARLINGTON, Texas — Russell Wilson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch Wednesday before the Texas game against Philadelphia.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback was selected by the Rangers in the Rule 5 draft last December and made a one-day stop in spring training in March.
Wilson was originally drafted by Colorado as a second baseman. He worked out with the Rangers on March 3 and was in uniform for an exhibition game that day.
Wilson hasn’t played baseball since 2011 when he hit .228 in 61 games in Class A. The Rockies used a fourth-round pick on him in the 2010 draft.
There are still tickets available for the 7:05 p.m. game.
