Sooners QB Baker Mayfield granted extra year after re-vote
Baker Mayfield will be getting an extra season after all.
After the proposed rule change to eliminate the year of lost eligibility for non-scholarship athletes who transfer within the conference failed to pass on Wednesday, the decision was overturned 24 hours later at Big 12 Meetings.
Mayfield was a freshman walk-on at Texas Tech before transferring to Oklahoma after the 2013 season.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and Mayfield released statements expressing their disappointment in the initial 5-5 vote that failed to pass the rule change.
But after the 7-3 re-vote on Thursday, Mayfield is looking forward to having the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the Sooners quarterback.
And y'all thought you were getting rid of me….

So many people to commend and thank for making a change for the better of walk-on student-athletes. But a big s/o to the Big 12 and the FARs
