Holland makes rehab start with Round Rock

Derek Holland started the path back to a spot in the Rangers rotation with a 39-pitch performance in a rehab start Wednesday at Triple-A Round Rock.

Pitching against the Nashville Sounds, Holland went three innings and allowed a run on three hits and two walks. The run came on a home run.

Holland threw 24 strikes and recorded one strikeout.

He is expected to make another rehab start on Monday with the intention of stretching him to 75 pitches.

Holland has been on the disabled list since June 7 with left elbow fatigue related to a stomach virus that left him underweight and weakened.
