FOX Sports Southwest wins seven Lone Star Emmys

FOX Sports Southwest received seven Emmys at the 12th annual Lone Star Emmy Awards Saturday in Houston. The awards recognize broadcast excellence in Texas and are presented by the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The seven wins brings FOX Sports Southwest’s Lone Star Emmy total to 56 since the inception of the awards.

The regional sports network was presented gold statues for on-camera talent, original programming and event coverage.

Dallas Mavericks announcers Mark Followill and Derek Harper picked up their first Emmy as the state’s best play-by-play and analyst team. It marked the third consecutive year and sixth time overall that a FOX Sports Southwest broadcast team has won the play-by-play/analyst category.

Mavs Live postgame show also was recognized with an Emmy for the best sports program series.

ICONS OF COACHING, FOX Sports Southwest’s new series launched last August, was a double winner in the sports interview discussion category. The program showcasing head coaches and managers who’ve made a difference in their sports was awarded two Lone Star Emmys for episodes on Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson and United States gymnastics coaching legend Bela Karolyi.

FOX Sports Southwest’s coverage of Dallas Stars icon Mike Modano’s retirement ceremony won an Emmy for sports special.

HIGH SCHOOL SCOREBOARD LIVE, FOX Sports Southwest’s signature Friday night high school football wrapup show, was awarded an Emmy in the sports program category.

A non-sports winner went to A RED RIVER LIFE. The feature on the storied Texas-Oklahoma college football game shown on last year’s Red River Rivalry preview special earned an Emmy in the Texas Heritage category.

"I am extremely proud of the work our talented staff continues to produce," said FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke. "Being recognized by our peers validates the commitment our team consistently strives for to produce the best sports programming in the state and region."
