Pelicans F Anthony Davis leaves game with ankle injury
The New Orleans Pelicans’ beleaguered roster took another painful hit Friday night, when Anthony Davis exited the game against the Utah Jazz after playing less than 4 minutes.
Davis’ left ankle was too painful for him to continuing playing.
New Orleans’ medical staff ruled Davis out after initial tests inside the team locker room.
Right now, general manager Dell Demps said there wasn’t a specific injury to Davis. Instead, Demps said the star forward’s left ankle "was sore" during warm-ups and became worse during the game as Davies tried to play through it.
Davis’ injury is likely a result of the grind of the season: the 21-year-old’s body certainly has taken a beating, given that he usually plays the most minutes on the team.
The Pelicans won’t know Davis’ status going forward until further tests are completed.
