Aggies’ Ennis suspended for Rice game

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – While Texas A&M still doesn’t know the fate of quarterback Johnny Manziel, the Aggies do know they’ll be without senior defensive lineman Kirby Ennis for the Aug. 31 season opener against Rice.
Ennis, who started 11 games as a junior, will be suspended for that game following an off-season arrest. He was charged with disorderly conduct, discharge or display of a firearm.
Two other projected starters on defense – defensive backs Deshazor Everett and Floyd Raven Sr. – still don’t know their fates.
Both were charged with assault causing bodily injury after a fight in April. Head coach Kevin Sumlin said the school was still gathering the facts on the incident before deciding what’s next. Both were suspended from the team after they were charged.
