FOX Sports South, SportSouth announce 2014 Braves telecast team
ATLANTA — Former Atlanta Braves Cy Young Award-winning pitcher John Smoltz will join play-by-play announcer Chip Caray and analyst Joe Simpson for select Atlanta Braves games during the season on FOX Sports South and SportSouth. Smoltz’s debut will be on SportSouth for the Braves home opener against the New York Mets on Tuesday, April 8. Expanded coverage will begin at 6 p.m. ET with Braves LIVE, including complete coverage of the 40th anniversary celebration of Hank Aaron’s 715th home run.
Smoltz, who is also an analyst for the FOX Broadcast Network and FOX Sports 1, pitched in 20 Major League Baseball seasons for the Braves. A member of the Braves Hall of Fame, Smoltz is the only player in MLB history with more than 200 career wins and 150 career saves, and is one of just two players to have recorded a 20-win season and a 50-save season.
Returning for a third season, Braves legend Tom Glavine will join Caray and Simpson in the booth for select games. Glavine, who pitched for the Braves in 16 MLB seasons, is a first-ballot inductee to the National Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2014. Also a member of the Braves Hall of Fame with 305 regular season wins, he is a two-time Cy Young Award winner and was named World Series MVP in 1995 when the Braves captured the championship title.
Caray enters his 11th season calling Braves games and Simpson returns for his 23rd season. This will be their fifth consecutive season calling Braves games together on the FOX Sports regional sports networks Fox Sports South and SportSouth.
Reporter Tom Hart returns for his fourth season to provide viewers with exclusive news and notes from inside the clubhouse and around the ballpark. New to the Braves coverage line-up for 2014, Jenn Hildreth will also serve as a reporter for select games throughout the year. Hildreth also serves as FOX Sports South’s ACC college football reporter and host of the weekly show ACC All-Access.
Braves LIVE, the pre- and postgame show for every Braves game on FOX Sports South and SportSouth, returns for the 2014 season. Braves LIVE will be on location from Turner Field for all home game telecasts and on site for select road series, as well. Jerome Jurenovich returns for his eighth season where he will be joined by former Braves standouts Brian Jordan and Paul Byrd. Jordan returns for his eighth season as a pre- and postgame analyst, while Byrd enters his second season behind the Braves LIVE desk.
Eighty-three games are currently scheduled for SportSouth and 73 games are slated for FOX Sports South, marking the most Braves games carried in the history of the networks.
