ANNOUNCER 1: So let's relive again the main moments of this Cup quarterfinal, first half in which Wigan had the majority of the better opportunities. That was a rare one for Southampton from Walton's fumble.

ANNOUNCER 2: And [INAUDIBLE] apparent lack of confidence. Wigan very much the dominant force were happy to attack at will. [INAUDIBLE] counter-attacking areas got good width in the game. Another defensive shoot for Southampton.

ANNOUNCER 1: Let's talk about Will Grigg coming into this game, as befits the top scorer in this season's FA Cup, with seven goals. That took [INAUDIBLE].

ANNOUNCER 2: There's a bit of a story of Wigan's afternoon, Good sort of half chance he snatched at or poor contact. Poor decision-making.

But they dominated possession. They had lots of chances in this situation. Little half a shot, bit of a ricochet. And it folds to them. And they just can't get the vital touch that would have put them ahead. And would have been deservedly ahead in this sort of period of the game.

ANNOUNCER 1: Shea Duncan, center back, lunging at the ball. Frustration for Paul Cook. [INAUDIBLE] approach, there was another scoring opportunity. This one coming by way of the veteran, Gary Roberts. [INAUDIBLE] get to take ti with his left foot.

ANNOUNCER 2: [INAUDIBLE] complicated rather than the more mundane, but possibly more practical. This should be about power. Does really well, reads the play, takes a good touch. Just got to be putting the laces through it.

ANNOUNCER 1: Into the second half. [INAUDIBLE] at his effort. And this was Michael Jacobs.

ANNOUNCER 2: The longer it went on, Paul Cook would have been thinking he's got to have to take one of these chances. Southampton can't be absolutely terrible for the 90 minutes. They haven't showed very much in the way of confidence.

[INAUDIBLE] continue to force the pace. There's only so many you can miss.

ANNOUNCER 1: That was Gavin Massey dragging his effort wide from a fair distance.

ANNOUNCER 2: [INAUDIBLE] shoot. So it should be hitting the target. That was a situation that could have caught [INAUDIBLE] out had he made contact.

ANNOUNCER 1: Cedric down the right. [INAUDIBLE] for Wigan. And then away with back toss, presented to Gabbiadini, Walton the saviour.

ANNOUNCER 2: He's actually passing to Dunkley. Walton does well, cause [INAUDIBLE] would have had no idea that this was coming. No reason for Dunkley to leave the ball, either. [INAUDIBLE] should score. But Walton came out and made a very good save.

ANNOUNCER 1: Now here's a warning for Wigan. [INAUDIBLE] corner, [INAUDIBLE] free for the header.

ANNOUNCER 2: [INAUDIBLE] set pieces. [INAUDIBLE] to get alongside people, get up against them. Walton does well, unfortunately, on the very next corner.

ANNOUNCER 1: [INAUDIBLE] again, this time with the ball at his feet rather than on his head. And that his first ever Southampton goal.

ANNOUNCER 2: [INAUDIBLE] half a yard. He nailed it. Get across that front post. He doesn't try and get too much on the ball, just makes a contact. [INAUDIBLE] can't react on the line. And for one, Walton helpless to do anything about it.

ANNOUNCER 1: So that was 1-0. And the 60-second minute for Southampton. The first goal scored by Saints under Mark Hughes. And it should arguably have been 2-0, 10 minutes later. Burn! [INAUDIBLE] to a foul, and brought down Gabbiadini for a penalty.

ANNOUNCER 2: Not too many protestations from the Wigan players. Burned the wrong side. He's got the long legs to make the challenge. From this angle, it looks like he gets a bit of the ball. But Michael Oliver, and the situation is, gives that one off instinct, and probably makes the correct decision. It's a fine save.

ANNOUNCER 1: Yep. Christian Walton, the London under 21 keeper, on loan from Brighton.

ANNOUNCER 2: Power from Gabbiadini, possibly a bit too close. But you've still got to make that save and still have the strength in the wrist.

ANNOUNCER 1: Wigan used all three subs. [INAUDIBLE] was one of them.

ANNOUNCER 2: [INAUDIBLE] should be heading this strong in the air. Once he's going up in the air, you're not going to get the power in the shot. Maybe couldn't stretch towards the header.

ANNOUNCER 1: And the game put beyond Wiggins reach, ultimately in the first minute of stoppage time. The right back coming off the left wing. Cedric for his first of the season.

ANNOUNCER 2: Massive relief for Mark Hughes, traveling Southampton fans put up with a pretty poor performance. See Mark Hughes talking to Cedric at the end. He had no idea why he was up there. But with that end result, he was delighted to have made the running [AUDIO OUT].

ANNOUNCER 1: Can we actually say the right results at the end of it, or not?

ANNOUNCER 2: No. Not off the majority of the game. I don't think that would be the case. But that's not how the Cup works, unfortunately
