Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a foreboding figure, but perhaps no team fears the Swedish striker more than St. Etienne. During his time in Ligue 1, Ibrahimovic feasted on the Greens. And, with a Wednesday date at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on the cards, the United forward is set for another helping.
St. Etienne’s players are keenly aware of Zlatan’s record against them. So, it makes sense that winger Romain Hamouma would have the following reaction to confirmation Ibrahimovic would play.
Zlatan has scored 17 times in 14 previous encounters with St. Etienne, including rolling up a hat trick in the first leg of their Europa League tie. Given the 3-0 aggregate score, it will take a Herculean effort for St. Etienne to turn the tide and advance.
Stopping Zlatan makes that all the more difficult, especially when he’s licking his chops. It could very well be a long day for St. Etienne.
