Wilkinson extends Daggers stay
Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has called on the squad to become
wiser in converting possession into wins.
The Gunners are in the midst of a pre-Christmas slump – losing
at Olympiakos in the Champions League and at home to Swansea in the
preceding Premier League clash.
Without a win in four, Arsene Wenger finds himself under renewed
pressure at the head of affairs – but France star Sagna maintains
that the players need to help out by becoming more ruthless.
“We just need to be wiser. We have had the opportunity to win
games, and for some reason we don’t,” Sagna told Arsenal
“We need to work on it. We need to stay focused on the pitch and
we need to work harder during training sessions. If we do that
everything will be fine. I don’t worry about it.
“Everyone is good in the Premier League. Everyone can beat
everyone. The top teams are the most consistent ones.
“They just go game by game and want to take points. We have to
step up and show the opposition who is on top. We’ve made some

Parker, 25, has been with Kevin Blackwell’s Shakers squad for a

The player made 52 appearances for Leeds but struggled with

The decision was announced following a meeting of UEFA’s
executive committee in Lausanne on Thursday.
UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino told a press conference
after the meeting: “Some important decisions have been taken.
“UEFA Euro 2020 will be staged across the continent, in various
major cities, following a decision taken today. A Euro for Europe

A final announcement is expected in the spring of 2014 with the
Football Association having already put Wembley forward as a
possible venue for the final.
Turkey had initially bid to host Euro 2020 and the nation’s

Wilkinson arrived at Victoria Road after his release by
Portsmouth in 2010 and spent his first two seasons on loan at
non-league sides Boreham Wood and Dartford.
But he has been a regular part of manager John Still’s side this
term and even bagged four goals in the process.
Still said: “When Luke Wilkinson signed as a young player from
Portsmouth we knew it would take him a little bit of time to settle
“He’s come in this year and done fantastic and made his place in
the team his own.
“He looks to be another young and exciting player that we seem
to develop here and I am delighted he has signed another
