Vietnam signs Falko Gotz to lead national team

Former Hertha Berlin and 1860 Munich manager Falko Gotz has been

appointed Vietnam’s new coach.

Gotz signed a two-year contract on Monday, filling the position

vacated by Portuguese Henrique Calisto who moved into Thai club

football.

Gotz said in a statement on the Vietnam federation website that

he wanted ”to identify and fully exploit the strengths of

Vietnamese players” and saw his responsibility as ”not just to

the national team, but also to help develop football in

Vietnam.”

Much of Gotz’s long playing career was spent with Bayer

Leverkusen and Koln, as well as a stint with Galatasaray, before

moving into coaching.
