Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says Sunday’s opponents Arsenal are the best team in the league "technically and tactically".

Van Gaal did counter that praise though, by reminding the Gunners that "they haven’t won so much".

United face their old rivals in north London on Sunday hoping to cement their place at the summit of the table.

Arsenal are just three points behind United and will be hoping to bounce back from their shock Champions League loss at home to Olympiakos on Tuesday night.

"We are happy but I think Arsenal can come back from a defeat. They have shown that a lot of times," said van Gaal.

"Arsenal are technically and tactically the best team in the league. Nevertheless, they haven’t won so much, so you have to look for that improvement with that team."

Van Gaal meanwhile, has said he is a different type of manager compared to Wenger and his Old Trafford predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I always want more," he added. "I have set my aims always in advance.

"It’s the same thing as what I’m doing now. I shall retire. I always do what I have said.

"I have always set my own aims and I think that I have set my last aim also."

Van Gaal insisted there are no regrets about managing a host of different clubs, including Bayern Munich and Barcelona, rather than create a legacy like Ferguson and Wenger.

"I set aims and I was very lucky that clubs or national teams want me," the Dutchman added.

"Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson are other types I think."
