UEFA fines Eintracht $96,000 for fans’ behavior

UEFA has fined Eintracht Frankfurt 70,000 euros ($96,000) for

the behavior of its record 12,000 travelling fans at a Europa

League match in Bordeaux.

UEFA says the sanctions were imposed for crowd disturbances and

setting off fireworks.

Eintracht has been fined increasing amounts by UEFA for fans

breaking rules by lighting flares inside stadiums.

UEFA cited the size of the German club’s support in Bordeaux on

Nov. 28 as a record for a Europa League group stage match.

Eintracht won 1-0 and has advanced to the round of 32.
