Toure sets out to halt Chelsea run

Chelsea have picked up where they left off last season by winning

their first five Premier League games, scoring 21 goals in the

process. However, City did the double over the champions last

season and Toure would love to think his side can make it three in

a row this weekend. “We were delighted to beat them twice last

season and we hope to do it again,” said Toure. “It’s going to be a

really exciting game. “We need to make sure we take something from

it. If we can get one point that would be great, but if we can get

all three like we did twice last season, that would be fantastic.

“The manager wants us to work really hard on defending every day in

training because when you defend well, it gives you the chance to

win games. “We don’t concede many goals because we are really tight

as a unit and work really hard for each other. We hope we can keep

going like this. “What we will have to do is defend as a team, like

we have been doing, and stay really focused. Then, when we can,

we’ll have to be really aggressive with them.” Toure has earmarked

Ivory Coast team-mate Didier Drogba as Chelsea’s biggest threat and

feels last season’s top scorer is better than ever. “He’s a

goalscorer,” said Toure. “All he thinks about is scoring goals. But

this season he is passing well and making a lot of assists as well.

“That makes him a much better player. “It seems like he’s getting

better with age because he’s such an intelligent player. He’s had

to change his game. He knows he needs more help from his team-mates

now. He used to like to do a lot himself, but now he shows he cares

about the team and that’s really good. “I know his game well, but

he’s still difficult to play against because he’s so powerful,” he

said. “He’s playing so well and with all these assists, he seems to

have improved his style of playing. “At the moment, I’d say he’s on

fire. So we’re going to have to defend really well as a team to

stop him. We’re going to have to be really strong on Saturday.”
