Tottenham, Arsenal fans clash before north London derby

Police observe Tottenham fans chanting songs ahead of the clash with north London rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham and Arsenal fans were involved in violent clashes before the crucial north London derby at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.

Police on horseback were forced to intervene with truncheons to separate brawling fans near the stadium.

One bearded supporter was seen with blood pouring from a head wound, while others were knocked to the ground before the police stepped in to restore order.

Tension was especially high before the game between the north London clubs, who are involved in a tight battle for the Premier League title.

Second-placed Spurs, who have not won the top-flight championship since 1961, were three points ahead of their hated rivals before kick-off.
