Toni Schumacher returns to Cologne as VP
Former Germany and Cologne goalkeeper Harald ”Toni” Schumacher
has returned to his former Bundesliga club as one of two vice
Schumacher was elected late Monday, along with new president
Werder Spinner. Cologne had been without a president since the
resignation in November of Wolfgang Overath. The club is seeking to
escape relegation with two matches remaining.
Schumacher gained notoriety for a collision with France defender
Patrick Battiston in the semifinals of the 1982 World Cup. He was
fired by Cologne after publishing an autobiography in 1987 that
alleged doping in German football.
