Saudi Arabia beats Thailand 3-0

Saudi Arabia beat Thailand 3-0 on Friday in their Asian

qualifier for the 2014 World Cup, handing former Netherlands and

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard his first victory in the

competition.

Following a goalless first half at the King Fahd International

Stadium, Naif Hazazi put the three-time Asian Cup champions ahead

just before the hour mark.

Ahmed Al Fraidi doubled the Saudis lead in the 80th minute and

skipper Mohammed Noor sealed the win from the penalty spot nine

minutes later after leftback Theerathon Bunmathan was sent off.

The win moves Saudi Arabia into second place in Group D on five

points, four behind leader Australia after four games. Thailand and

Oman both have four points.
