Samba secures Anzhi return

Danish defender Simon Kjaer has completed his move from

Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg to French club Lille.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who has also spent time at Palermo

and Roma in Italy, has revealed his delight at signing for the 2011

champions of France.

“They have a great stadium and the best training ground I have

ever seen,” wrote Kjaer on Twitter.

“I have had a few days in Lille before finally signing. I’m so

impressed by a well-organized club and my boss Rene Girard.

“Lille was the first club I visited to train with as a teenager

– even before Real Madrid. My first love.”

Rangers made Samba their record signing in January, but the

centre-half was unable to prevent relegation to the

Championship.

Samba’s form at Loftus Road fluctuated, and at one stage he

became embroiled in a Twitter row with supporters questioning his

wages.

But Anzhi have not been put off re-signing the 29-year-old, who

spent a year in Russia before his move to London.

A statement on the QPR website read: “The club would like to

wish Chris all the best for the future and thank him for his

contribution to QPR.”
