Russia names squad for Euro 2012 qualifiers

Russia coach Dick Advocaat has called up newcomer Alexander

Samedov to replace injured midfielder Dmitry Torbinskiy for the

team’s last two Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Russia is away to Slovakia on Oct. 7 and will host Andorra in

Moscow four days later.

Advocaat’s side is top of Group B with 17 points after eight

games. Second-place Ireland is two points behind, followed by

Armenia and Slovakia on 14 points each.

Advocaat has been widely criticized for selecting the same

20-man squad for the most of the qualifying round.
