Ronaldo says he will retire at the end of 2011

Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo says he will retire after the 2011

season.

The 33-year-old striker extended his contract with Corinthians

on Monday, and plans to play two more seasons before putting an end

to a successful career of more than 17 years.

Ronaldo says he is “hoping to have some fun and win many

significant titles” with Corinthians before retiring and becoming

an ambassador for the Brazilian club.

Ronaldo was the FIFA player of the year in 1996, 1997 and 2002.

He helped Brazil win the World Cup in 1994 and 2002, and has scored

62 goals in 97 international games.
