Qatar beats Indonesia 4-0 in WCup qualifier
Ibrahim Khalfan scored a goal in each half as Qatar cruised to a
4-0 victory over Indonesia on Friday in Asian qualifying for the
2014 World Cup.
Mohamed Razak opened the scoring in the 30th minute and Khalfan
converted a penalty three minutes later to put Qatar firmly in
control of the Group E match.
Khalfan rifled home his second in the 64th minute from outside
the penalty area and substitute Sebastian Soria beat goalkeeper
Hendro with a low shot in the second minute of stoppage time to
complete the rout.
Qatar is level on eight points with group leader Iran after four
matches, while Bahrain is third on five points and Indonesia is on
zero.
Qatar coach Sebastiao Lazaroni said ”It was a good game for us
and we started brightly in the first half with two goals…Our next
game against Bahrain is very important. For now, let me celebrate
this victory with the players and tomorrow we talk about it.”
Lazaroni added that he was ”happy Razak scored and it will
boost his confidence, so too for Soria.”
Indonesia coach Wilhemus Gerardus was disappointed with his
side’s performance.
”We have a lot to learn; we gave away two easy goals in the
opening half,” he said. ”The first goal, we lost the ball in
midfield and the second was an easy penalty. I warned the players
to be more cautious with Ibrahim khalfan and Mohammed Razak.
”The quality was the difference today, we defended poorly, lost
possession of the ball in key areas and we paid dearly for
it.”
